Hello Again!!!

been very busy for the past few weeks. so many things happened but with our phoneline busted, i wasn't able to post anything about it. here are some of the things that took place during the past few weeks.

liberation of sorts:

last August 21, Sunday, candyaudioline has lost it's bassist (again)! this time for good (or should i say the good of the band). during practice, we noticed that she was not "into the whole practice thing". i tried talking to her but she became more agitated (binagsak pa nya gitara ko!) according to her, she could not carry on being a member of the band because she believes (because of the recent line-up change) it was no longer candyaudioline. Shallow! if i were to subscribe to that belief eh di dapat nung 1998 pa lang nagpalit na ako ng pangalan. candyaudioline will always be candyaudioline as long as there are people who are willing to be a member of candyaudioline. people who'll contribute to it's longevity by virtue of friendship and 100% respect among the members themselves and to the band that they belong to.

Quick Recovery:

not affected by what had just happened. i talked with the remaining members telling them not to be affected by the words (most of which pertaining to them) which were uttered. obviously shocked and disgusted, kel and dennis assured me that they were ok. i told them that she's not worth it and that i'll back them up come what may. ang laki yata ng utang na loob ko sa dalawang ito and to joel and charles too. if it weren't for them di sana sidelined pa rin kami ngayon. we decided to go home. on the way we talked about the things that had just happened. lalu akong nainis sa mga nalaman ko... lalu na yung parang pinormahan nya si selena habang di ito nakatingin sa kanya dahil nga sa iniiwasan din sya. traidor talaga ano. na-realise ko na talaga palang pangit ang ugali ng taong ito. ilang beses ko ring na-witness yung pero d ko nalang pinapatulan. i parted ways with dennis and kel and they assured me na walang iwanan. Joel called up just as i arrived home which gave me an idea for a quick solution to our current problem. I asked him if he still knows some candyaudioline songs and he said yes. So I decided that we play the next day at mayrics kahit walang practice. And so we did and it was truly great… candyaudioline is still alive and well…

About Soft Pillow Kisses:

soft pillow kisses had a practice session last tuesday, august 23 in preparation for last week’s buzz night. We had a really great time going over old songs and trying to catch up with recent newer stuff. After the practice, I took the opportunity to talk to my pillow mates and told them of my intentions to keep the current line-up and rerecord all of the unreleased songs. So it’s official, soft pillow kisses is me, eloha, charles, lara and gilbert… hope this last (forever). Funny because selena gave me a copy of the pulp 2003 indie editition. As I scanned the article, I noticed that this present line-up was featured in that issue and that was 3 years ago. Coincidence or fate?

August Buzz Night:

I’ll leave selena to write something about this month’s buzz night. But here are some of my best recollections about the event.

Kings and Pawns was a revelation that night. A three piece band and was a real welcome sigh of relief for your’s truly. At first I thought they were like a cross between the strokes and franz ferdinand but by the 3rd song they were beginning to sound like joy division. They did 5 songs all written by the band themselves. I was so impressed. Thanks BJ.

Soft Pillow Kisses played one of the best sets we ever played. I think we mesmerized everyone who was inside mayrics and even ourselves. I pity those poor souls who wasn’t present that night.

Candyaudioline got the scare of the moment when dennis arrived with the news that Joel could not play bass that night because of hypertension. An hour later, joel showed up assuring us that he was ok. With no practice we went up stage and played of the most inspired and relaxed set we ever did. Thanks joel.

Nycty Nasty was another revelation that night. It wasn’t the music really, it was the 2 very young girls who were alternating lead riffs… parang lalaki yung dalawa magitara… you should see them for yourself. Maliban dun, pareho pa silang cute.

We missed populardays, tether and sunsetdrive… thanks to shimmer, inhaler, my science project, nycty nasty, kings and pawns, to my bandmates in candyaudioline and soft pillow kisses for saving the night from being a total let down. I’ve come to realize again that poor attendance can never ruin good bands who plays great music…
