Rains, Practices and Crying...

First of all, in behalf of all of us here at Candyaudioline, let me greet Elaine a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! she'll be celebrating it this coming Saturday, Sept. 27... sadly we can't be with her...

we've been having a lot of practices lately in preparation for next week's Buzz Night happening on the 2nd of October which is a Thursday at Club Dredd... the reason is we're trying to prepare our new singer for that one... i've decided not to let Elaine sing for us anymore after the Kublai's gig so that she'll have ample time to prepare for her Birthday/Despedida and other things related to her leaving the country... stupid of me not to explain this to my band mates... anyways, we're trying our best to move on...

admittedly, we sorely miss her... during the past 2 practices we had, it has been Maggot carrying the responsibility of constantly making us smile... i hope Elaine gets to see what we cooked up for her, it took a hell lot out of us all to convince Maggot to do what she did... hehehe... still we're enjoying every opportunity that candy is together...

Ecay our new singer, after couple of pratices, has sunk comfortably well with the rest of us... Soft Pillow Kisses Rene too has helped a lot during this trying times inspite of the rains... serving as the on who takes the instruments to practice and fetching Ecay (she's 18 years old by the way) from her place to the studio... and he even subs for Maggot at times when Maggot comes late to practice... he even excerts a whole lot of effort at giving Ecay at few tips at being "indie"...

rainy days bring out the indie-ness in most of us... the jackets, the jackets... i keep forgetting to bring my jacket... the rains have been so wicked lately... so wicked that i always feel drepressed everytime the rain falls...

well it's been fun really, except for one momment during last night's practice where in the middle of my one on one with Ecay, she suddenly started crying... i got the scare of my life that very momment in fear that i might have pushed her too much... but she assued me that she was just being frustrated with herself for not being the same singer that she was just 2 days ago, where in she was really doing well where she ran through 13 songs 2 of which i just taught her that same night... i guess she was just tried and really needed some rest...

i'm looking forward to another practice session next week hopefully she'll be in much better shape and improved a whole lot... and also the Buzz Night thing at Club Dredd that i prepared in honor of Dale, who's also leaving for the US on the 6th of October... Dale's the one who recommended Ecay to me... here Dale, take a look...

What do you think Dale?

i think that she'll do well come October 2 and with a few more practices and some more tears shed, then she'll be in top form...

Last Practice With Elaine...

this one's a bit over due... Just can't find time to post... i've been very Busy during the past few days and i just realised there's so much to post...

anyways, here's a video from our last practice session with Elaine... We will surely miss her kakulitan...

Hope i can post some more Elaine related items... By the way, She'll be celebrating her 26th Birthday this Saturday, Sept. 27, i feel really bad that we can't be there since me, Dennis and Kel will be Singapore bound on that date...

Last Few Weeks...

It was sort of a happy yet sad practice we had a while ago... Elaine has confirmed that it's all systems go for her US trip come October... At least she'll still be celebrating her birthday here in the Philippines next week but Me, Dennis and Kel won't be here on her Birthday coz we'll be going out of the country for about 3-4 days, work related... nevertheless, we still find a way to enjoy the somewhat short practice we had with some picture taking sessions... Here are some of them...

anyways, the practice was in preparation for the gigs we'll be playing this thursday and friday... the last few ones probably for Elaine...

The Final Stretch... Aborted Practice...

we're in the middle of September and to us here at Candy Camp, it means that we will be entering another phase of a very consistent cycle... the cycle of change...

by the middle October, Elaine might not be with us anymore since she'll be working in the US for about 3 years or so... i don't know but i think we should've been making use of the time she's here but for the paft 2 month's or so we seldom have a chance to be together... it was only during last Buzz Night that we had a chance to be a complete Candyaudioline unit playing live, the first time at that... Although we did had a couple of practice sessions but we haven't really had a bonding session... i can't even post a picture with all present members with it...

a while ago, our practice session had to be cancelled since both Maggot and Elaine were down with illnesses... i'm afraid we'll be playing lousily again this Thursday at 6UG... hope we could get a chance to practice within the week before Thursday... and i hope we could still get a few more gigs before Elaine finally bids us farewell...

as for the one filling in for Elaine, i already have 2 propects although i doubt one of them since she's not really a Pilipino Citizen and she usually goes back to her country of origin every now and then... the other one seems a bit promising... thanks Dale...

When It Rains, It's Buzz Night!!!

First of all, i'd like to thank Sonnet LVIII and Your Imaginary Friends for braving the rains... Both bands do come from places which are notorious for floods (Valenzuela and Mandaluyong respectively)... Even Random Knobs made it late in the evening and i too was caught in some flooded areas before i reached the surprisingly flood-free EspaƱa... I was expecting a really good turn-out based on the line-up and on some people who messaged me telling me that they miss Buzz Night and that they'll be going there inspite it being a Monday (Maybe because of Sonnet LVIII)... but as i expected, the rains ruined the party... I did wanted to cancel it but i also wanted to play and so did the bands i mentioned a while back... so we had to push thru...

I was there at around 9pm since i was suppose to meet someone but thanks to the rains all the cabs didn't want to risk going to UST area... so i rode a jeepney... i was a bit embarrassed because i had to ask the driver the amount it wound take me to get to UST from Blumentrit...

On to Buzz Night, Your Imaginary Friend started the whole thing at around 11pm... can't say much about them but i was quite impressed at the first 2 songs they did although i was unaware whether they were originals or not since i was too busy fixing the mic of their bassist who happens to have a nice voice... It's their 1st gig by the way so those little "sabits" can be ignored and with a little more practice and if they continue in the same vein of the 1st two songs they played, i think they have a pretty chance getting the ears of the indie, the sort of indie and the non indie types a like... Catchy tunes, slight-too-good-a-singer fromtman and a cute back-up girl voice...

Candyaudiline played next... the practice sessions did us really well... i even let Eline sing some songs alone... Maggot too was in top form too and was really well dressed for the occassion and inspite of playing in an obnoxiously lessened volume level, i think we did enjoyed our set... Also this marks the 1st time we played with all proper members intact... Sadly there's only a few more gigs that this line-up will be playing before Elaine leaves us for good... nothing much can be done but to enjoy it while it last...

3rd up was Sopnnet LVIII... I wasn't able to watch their whole set because i was too busy bullying Elaine to help me out singing some back-up for Soft Pillow Kisses since Pillow's singer can't make it to Mayrics because she was in some flooded area somewhere in Makati... i did catch a glimpse of those really classic Sonnet LVIII tunes (Treasure Heaven, Pristine and Hurricane Aurora) done decently well inspite of the fact that they were missing a member who also couldn't make it at the last minute because of the rains...

Soft Pillow Kisses followed and played a quite good set with some large helpings of craziness from Elaine who unwillingly helped me rip through the last 4 of the six songs we played... It was actually the first gig of this new Pillow line-up but the rains, the rains... If only Soft Pillow Kissing singer could've made it...

Randon Knobs played last... by this time i was so exhausted that i just stayed outside... i did hear some of their numbers and they did sounded quite mean and well...

That's that for now... Thanks to Carl of Lazy Lorelei for helping me out... Carl is now Sir Carl, hehehe...

hope the next Buzz Night will be Blessed...

An Exhausting Yet Quite Enjoyable Ordeal...

lesson learned, don't ever let Candyaudioline and Soft Pillow Kisses share the same practice sched and area... specially when you're trying to get serious results out of it...

i thought it was going to be quite managable but last Wednesday's practice session was a bit confusing and really tiring... the practice was pegged at around 10pm and since it was candy who was almost complete save for Elaine who was very busy downloading stuff from the net, candy went first... i forgot that Maggot was the one playing bass so instead of just going thru the songs, we had to help her remember some songs and teach her a new one... Elaine came in with just 2 songs on my imaginary Candy 1st Set list before Pillow was to use the next few minutes or so... when Pillow started, Apple was still nowhere in sight so i tried to make use of the time to juice Ralph of any more songs he could've studied but according to him, he was to busy to study some more songs... so we just reviewed all the songs he knew... Apple arrived 5 songs down and just like Elaine, she only got to practice 2 songs during the first Pillow Practice set... we all went outside to take a breather and as usual, Candy was leading the way in the alaskahan dept... with Maggot being the honorary victim and seeing how Elaine was a bit amazed at how Maggot was dancing and at the same time taking everything being hurled at her by Dennis and co. as for the Pillow side of the fence, well, they were being quite well behaved, even Rene was quiet...

after the very long break, Candy went back practicing but by this time, i was feeling quite exhausted mainly due to laughing at Maggot and Elaine's crazy antics... just went thru a few songs and called in my Pillow mates for the resumption of the 2nd Pillow half... have to commend Ralph again for doing such a great job of trying to learn another song in a span of 30 minutes... after about 4 song, i begged time out coz by this time my back was really killing me... i came back for 3 more songs and decided to end the pillow session... i was so tired that i didn't push with the third Candy part...

anyways... it was quite fun and i'm very glad that both bands don't have to share the same members everytime... i also noticed that both bands carry with it the right members... the rawdy one's belong to Candy while the well behaved bunch sits comfortably with Pillow...

Sadly for Candy, we're just a month away from losing a singer...
