that summer feeling

hello everyone...

notice how hot the weather has been in recent days...

and did any of you notice how quiet we've been recently...

i guess we are all busy at the moment. dennis and arjay is preoccupied with their text/sex escapades, kel on the other hand is formulating a drum equation that would convince me that what he's been doing for the band (the way he keeps everything upbeat and spectacular for himself- kaya nawawalan ng dating yung mga kanta) is a VERY-A-GOOD... which brings me back to that gig we had last April 22 somewhere in mandaluyong... we did have to very positive practice sessions but when gig time came, nabali-wala yung PhP740.00 na binayad ko sa studio just to make sure that everything would run smoothly during gig time. pero hinde eh... hindi ako gaanong nag-enjoy!!! sayang lang...
si mavi naman, aside for an improvement in her vocal delivery for the past few gigs eh wala ako ganong balita pero we did hung out last wednesday somewhere in kamuning and did a walkathon of sorts somewhere along timog/tomas morato area... as for me, i'm really busy with work and had just recently finished recording, mixing and mastering the soft pillow kisses album...

extra extra...

- just received 3 cd's from ms. denice of universal records... (weevils, the radio dept. and the new pornographers)
- i also have with me a copy of the new Queso (formerly Cheese) cd with me...
- i accidentally viewed a picture of selena and her new boyfriend somewhere while searching for something in google... (nakaka-inis... ang tanga ko talaga...) ayan... kumpleto na araw ko... ang saya saya - nila... all smiles pa talaga... punyetah...

* bring me back to the sea! *

sometimes what i need is just an escape form the mundane.
sometimes constancy is seeked out to find rest from the mad dog days...
and i hope, someday,
in one unique moment, both will be achieved :)

* mermaid tales *

I am not a fan of the summer’s sun. My bare shoulders and limp hair wage war against its rays. But that day, and the hours that followed, caught me unsuspectingly. I was there at the beach to wile away the burning days and melting nights. Something was aimed to alter all potentials as soon as I got there.

I just got back from Nausgbu with some friends. I haven’t even put down my bags when the sea beckoned me to kick off my slippers and sink my feet in to the sugary sands. I never saw the sea as an enchantress. Unknowingly, I succumbed to her charms as the grains flowed and rose in between my toes.

And so my brief affair with a new goddess had begun…

As soon as we had settled and unpacked, my friends and I headed straight out to find the perfect spot at the beach. For four girls who were predominantly single and who were not out there to attract unwanted attention, the “perfect spot” meant a safe place where we could peel off our sweaty summer clothes revealing the skimpy bikinis underneath. Good thing the different resorts had few guests the day we arrived. So from five until dinnertime, I was free to enjoy the beach in its entirety – the smooth, warm sand…lush mountains framing the cottages…the sun slowly breathing its last embers…cool, silvery waves caressing my thighs…and the surreal view of the Taal at the end of the horizon…

I wanted to immerse every inch and cell of my urban body. I was overwhelmed. Nirvana briefly visited my bliss when I saw a small aqua blue bird fly and perch on a tree. The image of this memory still engulfs me.

We missed the sunset and I was almost crushed until we reached the far end of the shore. The sea did not fail to impress again…

This time, the rocky end of the beach revealed its own beauty. The tide was so low the shore seemed to extend towards half of the sea. The exposed rocks were like giant and baby turtles moon bathing in silence. Excited, I walked fast to embrace what seemed to be an illusion.

April Buzz

hello everyone...

salamat nga pala sa mga naligaw sa buzz night last wednesday... we had a good sized crowd and quite a very enjoyable atmosphere that night...

hmmmm... i liked Slavedrum's set, they somewhat relaxed my tensed nerves. the beats, the guitars, the bass, the sampled loops and vocals where all in their proper places... i guess these guys really know what thet're doing. A very rare thing in the local music scene...

next was tether. this one was a reunion of sorts (all original members intact)... save for the out of tune instruments, they were very impressive and powerful... on a sour note however, according to one member, they are thinking of not continuing with the band anymore... well, i tried convincing him not to but... oh well, some people just don't know...

skies of ember followed... they are still one of the really great bands that have yet to be given a chance to be heard by more people. although i was a bit disappointed at their choice of song to covers...

soft pillow kisses followed. our first song was great but during the second and third songs we were beginning to look like a bunch of morons on a field trip courtesy of charles' brand "GRETCHS" new guitar... i guess we were able to redeem ourselves during the fifth and sixth song. eloha's voice was way up this time around and according to friends, she sang in tune, well it could've been better if it weren't for the stupid accent... i would like to thank Lara (Ex-Pillow bassist) for filling in for our current bassist William who at that time was scheduled for crucifixtion at a local "senakulo" event that he himself organized...

after pillow, candyaudioline took the stage... well the two straight practice sessions did the band good save for me and mavi's occassional out of tune singing - feeling ko, sobrang lakas ng monitors to a point na nakaka-conscious... we played mostly obscure candyaudioline songs, the high point for us was during "waste my time" and "light a candle". actually, that was the very first time that we (current line-up) played those songs live. the last time that those songs were played was when me and selena started dating more than two years ago... by the way, selena was present that night... there was supposed to be a coup of sorts but the other ex-candyaudioline members (Ayn, Ralph and Roel) did not show up...

kings and pawns followed... by this time i was a bit exhausted so i just listened to their set from outside... i think they did two new songs which were really good...

last band up sa my science project... sayang itong banda na ito... they have a really great keyboardist, great melodies and have become a tighter unit during their past few buzz night appearances. but... they have two flaws... one is that they lack guitar lines that could compliment the keyboards. puro nalang kasi keyboards yung nagdadala eh pero minor flaw lang yan... and pinakamalalang flaw ng bandang ito is the vocalist... i'd rather go for a vocalist who sings out-of-tune that one like him... nakakasira sya sa banda... dapat sa iyo dennis mag-weezer ka nalang... i've told him already at every opportunity that their songs should be delivered in twee-est fashion - meaning malambot, malambing at relaxed... may mga tao talagang marunong lang makinig... hanggang dun lang...

* once upon a time, in a land far, far away... *

why do sperm cells look like wriggly tad poles under the microscope?

and why did the witch turn the poor prince in to a disgusting frog?

do fairy land tad poles grow up to become the frog that will turn in to my prince after the magical kiss?

i'm not looking for a prince for i am not a damsel in distress. it's just stress and a bad headache. i can handle myself.

no prince needs to sweep me off my feet and i will slay my own dragons. for i know my inner evils best.

glass slippers don't fit me and they are out of style. horses i may not know how to gallantly ride
but foxes i know how to tame.

i will run away even before the great clock strikes twelve. it's not that i'm afraid i will turn in to a vegetable or a fruit. i just have to go because you are boring me.

i'd rather sleep another hundred years than to wait for the magical kiss that will wake me up from this fantasy.

i don't need another slimy kiss that will eventually turn my so-called prince from charming in to another
frog.

Candyaudioline Lyrics to: " An Empty You", and "Flaming Walls"

AN EMPTY YOU

Can I… suppose it stains
As I oppose your ways
And sa I fail, I see you smile
Holding back, just for a while

Maybe, it’s all vain
Try to believe it, yet unfazed
An empty you
Go pass me by
Holding back ,

(I’ll see you, I’ll see you soon, I’ll be with you)

… just for a while

FLAMING WALLS

move so fast beneath the sea of love
blurry motives shatter all my lush desires
boxed inside within these flaming walls
fucked up feelings reel me up I beg your fall …it ain’t right…

holding on to my sedate extremes
try to put an end to all your violent dreams
measured movements used to make you tall
a call to arm won’t even help you break your fall… it ain’t right…

I did I did I did...

I tried to make you feel that everything was real
a way to pull it off a way to break your fall

* strawberry cream pie *

not a single worthy testament
to capture another's wandering heart
no words flourished enough
out of an impotent mind
no verse borne out of
beautiful musings or daydreams
pretentious thoughts
impregnate my journals
malicious intentions for
an insignificant other keep me fertile
this hand that pushes this pen
pulls me to proliferate stale truths
putting it all out in the open
has never been my literary style
i'd rather thrive on rotten mushrooms
anchovy and strawberry cream pie
than to let you all in and judge me
