brandnewaudioline...

last night was really something for me... all my patience and the band's hard work has finally paid-off...

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, BOYS AND GIRLS, I present to you CANDYAUDIOLINE... and this one's far better than the last one...

Last night's gig is a solid testimonial to what we should have been a long time ago - tight, confident and very much IN CONTROL. sure there were some lapses, specially by the two new members but the were very few and so easy to ignore.

kel (drummer) was really impressive... very fluid and so full of dynamics giving each part of every song it's own distinct character... unlike before wherein the songs were very much similar to a never ending highway, last night they were like rollercoasters... he actually made my hipswing for a while...

dennis (guitars) played his part so well, note for note plus a few improvisations of his own... the sounds that he was able to pull-off was, for me, very stunning. there were parts somewhere in "we've been there" and "my silver chair" wherein i got lost because i was mesmerised by the soundscapes that were coming out from his amp.

ayn too was a bit different last night, she was the "bassist" that night. not a single question from her nor the usual "allan dinig ba ako kanina?". i guess she has finally come to a point wherein she knows what she's supposed to do and that there are only the three of us (me, selena and ayn) remnants from the previous line-up that is responsible to show the newbies how things are at candyaudioline...

selena on the otherhand played her part to almost near perfection. her singing was very relaxed, the words were delivered the way i was hoping she would for very long time now (i think that practicing while playing guitar did help her a bit) she was talking to crowd as if it was a crowd of our own. and she was even dancing in proper timing (courtesy of kel's consistency). as for

me, inspite of having back problems that made me sit during the instrumental parts of each song, really had a very swell time watching my bandmates do their own thing...

there's only one regret that i have with this line-up and that is i am only sharing dennis with another band called tether (also another great young band that people should watch out for). well i guess i just have to settle with that...

special thanks to joel (session bass player for candyaudioline and superminty) bassist of tether, for lending us his bass and making sure that we sounded right during last night's set.

i will end my entry with this quote from myself:

"being a member of candyaudioline, i consider myself to be very lucky and unlucky at the same time. lucky because i'm part of one of the best things that ever happened to music, unlucky because i may never be able to witness it (candyaudioline) live".

pahabol... out of a number of positive comments i heard about our set last night, here are some i found quite rewarding and amazing at the same time:

"mas magaling yung drummer nyo ngayon" - allan kamikazee

"are those your songs, wow! i'll be leaving for the US tomorrow, do you a CD out?..." - 30 something long-haired guy who offered me vodka...

"kuya saan pa po kayo tumutugtog?" - emo kid wearing tretorn sneakers...

"you guys remind me of the Pixies" - somebody said that to selena.

see you this buzz night!!! April 23 @ Mayrics...
