Kawawa talaga tayo!!!

hello peeps!

been very busy lately with some sidelines. depriving me the chance to share with you some really pissed-off moments and really annoying things that i had encountered during the past few days. the last one happenning just a while ago when our racket went puff just because of people who were very "siguristas". this cost me money amounting to... nevermind, it is very big an amount. to think that it just slipped past me... there goes another boo boo for me...

i just hope that the people responsible for such would be able to find a way to come up with what they wheren't able to produce last night. and that they'd be honest enough to give me what was already mine...

'nuff of that...

we had quite a successful BUZZ NIGHT last sept 24... the crowd was big and the line-up was something to bragg about... but...

ok. i really hate this attitude that bands have when it comes to "performing first". and the best way to avoid playing first in a certain event is to come late or to hide one or two of the members and tell the one in charge that you have one or two members missing... the worst is, kahit na kumpleto na sila, they'll beg the one in charge that they are are still waiting for their "pa-importanteng guest" to arrive... alisin na natin yung ganyang attitude... if we have to go first then so be it. kahit wala pang tao!

first come first play is the way we do things at buzz night and i want to keep it that way. but, because of the way things have been lately, i might impose a "time slot designating" approach wherein bands will be given call times. failure to meet these call times will result in the band being pushed to the rear order of the line-up which could result in them playing last or worst, NOT being able to play at all...

another thing that i hate is when a band don't show up... if you think your band won't be bale to make it. just advice me. ok lang naman eh basta valid yung reason. at least this would give me time to fill in the vacant slot or give the bands present a lot more time to perform...

so here's a short account of what went on during the sept 24, 2005 buzz night...

i arrived late and to my surprise and disgust, no band has performed yet although popular days was already complete, it was pretty obvious that they where being "rock stars" ... pero d uso sa akin ang rock star eh. so i had them play first... 11:15pm na yun charles! minsan lang kayo mauna! i made them play 4 songs taking into account that there were 8 bands up... if only the people from the two absentee bands informed me that they were doing the "no show shit stuff", i could've made popular days do 7 songs instead of just 4... tapos na yun eh... these four songs that popular days played was enough to give me a reason to award them "the best band of the night"... they were truly great that night!!! welcome back "insan"!!!

next up was kings and pawns. it's their 2nd successive buzz appearance... these guys didn't disappoint me. although they were lacking the confidence they displayed the first time they did buzz night, their songs carried them thru... this time, the songs where properly placed one after the other giving the audience a chance to properly digest each song as they went along with their set. unlike the first time around wherein i myself got confused as to what these guys were trying to put across... may sinabi ba sa inyo si BJ? hehehe...

sunsetdrive followed, they're back and 4 piece na sila ulit altough i wasn't able to watch their whole set because i was, from time to time, going in and out of Mayrics trying to get in touch with the guys from Daydream Cycle and Sugar Hiccup. it was really timely that mayrics had just finished having their PA system repaired. ayun, lumabas tuloy ang bigat ng tugtugan nila... as usual, another great set for these guys...

candyaudioline came next. to tell you the truth, feeling ko talaga magkakalat kami because we haven't practiced for quite some time na. taking into account that bago yung bahista namin and the night before, we did a somewhat amaturish set in the same venue. well, according to those present, we did very well. even i was a bit surprised that we delivered a very tight, almost flawless set.

soft pillow kisses followed. for most part, nakakahiya kami!!! pero okey lang kasi masaya pa rin. our singer was so drunk that i was almost sure that it was sid vicious and not eloha who was with me singing that night. it's not that she'd sang out of tune. it's just that, as if she was "somewhere else". aside from that, charles broke a string and my guitar was "trying to declare independence"... gilbert was having a hard time remembering the songs. i think he was drinking too. only lara was the steady one... although we were able to pull ourselves together by the 4th song "i don't know what to say". by the time we were doing the 5th song "i was right", we were back to our soft-pillow-selves... it was during the beginning of the last song "vodka ice #3" until it's end that we became gods once more. hehehe... kapal mo talga allan!!!

last band to play was my science project... now they are beginning to become what they have been attempting to do for quite some time now -- "a respectable indiepop band". konti pa dennis and company... lambutan nyo pa at konting ayos pa sa mga songs. try to be more unique as you possibly can. always bear in mind that soft pillow kisses and superminty are both quite unique and still at the top of everything else...

i would like to thank all those who where at buzz night. matagal na rin natin d napupuno ang mayrics. special mention goes to eric of popular days for that really cute poster he did, to kel for updating me while i was at work, to BJ for giving us Kings and Pawns who let us borrow their guitar. thanks...

that's all for now... next time, i'll write something about the newest, "in" thing happening in the local mainstream music scene. do you know what it is?

i'll be leaving you with a line which is not to be read but should be sung to the tune of the chorus of an obscure song by The Care called "Chandelier"...

Amen"
