First of all, i'd like to thank Sonnet LVIII and Your Imaginary Friends for braving the rains... Both bands do come from places which are notorious for floods (Valenzuela and Mandaluyong respectively)... Even Random Knobs made it late in the evening and i too was caught in some flooded areas before i reached the surprisingly flood-free EspaƱa... I was expecting a really good turn-out based on the line-up and on some people who messaged me telling me that they miss Buzz Night and that they'll be going there inspite it being a Monday (Maybe because of Sonnet LVIII)... but as i expected, the rains ruined the party... I did wanted to cancel it but i also wanted to play and so did the bands i mentioned a while back... so we had to push thru...
I was there at around 9pm since i was suppose to meet someone but thanks to the rains all the cabs didn't want to risk going to UST area... so i rode a jeepney... i was a bit embarrassed because i had to ask the driver the amount it wound take me to get to UST from Blumentrit...
On to Buzz Night, Your Imaginary Friend started the whole thing at around 11pm... can't say much about them but i was quite impressed at the first 2 songs they did although i was unaware whether they were originals or not since i was too busy fixing the mic of their bassist who happens to have a nice voice... It's their 1st gig by the way so those little "sabits" can be ignored and with a little more practice and if they continue in the same vein of the 1st two songs they played, i think they have a pretty chance getting the ears of the indie, the sort of indie and the non indie types a like... Catchy tunes, slight-too-good-a-singer fromtman and a cute back-up girl voice...
Candyaudiline played next... the practice sessions did us really well... i even let Eline sing some songs alone... Maggot too was in top form too and was really well dressed for the occassion and inspite of playing in an obnoxiously lessened volume level, i think we did enjoyed our set... Also this marks the 1st time we played with all proper members intact... Sadly there's only a few more gigs that this line-up will be playing before Elaine leaves us for good... nothing much can be done but to enjoy it while it last...
3rd up was Sopnnet LVIII... I wasn't able to watch their whole set because i was too busy bullying Elaine to help me out singing some back-up for Soft Pillow Kisses since Pillow's singer can't make it to Mayrics because she was in some flooded area somewhere in Makati... i did catch a glimpse of those really classic Sonnet LVIII tunes (Treasure Heaven, Pristine and Hurricane Aurora) done decently well inspite of the fact that they were missing a member who also couldn't make it at the last minute because of the rains...
Soft Pillow Kisses followed and played a quite good set with some large helpings of craziness from Elaine who unwillingly helped me rip through the last 4 of the six songs we played... It was actually the first gig of this new Pillow line-up but the rains, the rains... If only Soft Pillow Kissing singer could've made it...
Randon Knobs played last... by this time i was so exhausted that i just stayed outside... i did hear some of their numbers and they did sounded quite mean and well...
That's that for now... Thanks to Carl of Lazy Lorelei for helping me out... Carl is now Sir Carl, hehehe...
hope the next Buzz Night will be Blessed...
